Verbal and bodily expression for good communication
Every day, we humans communicate in different ways. Even if sometimes we are not aware of it.
Our body is an excellent transmitter of mood states, because with movements and gestures, we are able to demonstrate feelings and ways of thinking.
An important role in sending and capturing messages is also attributed to articulate language. When it is not used correctly, it does not have the desired effect and has the opposite effect.
You, Mom, must know that changing times impose other forms of expression. For example, the way of speaking of the new generations . But this does not mean that changing times should also accept the misuse of language as contemporary.
Vulgarity, rudeness and profanity have nothing to do with what is current or old-fashioned. And this must be conveyed to your child.
Acting rudely and impolitely with those around us and using violent gestures when talking makes us despicable human beings. Tell that to your child too.
Why is it necessary to speak correctly?
The articulated language came about because of the need we have to express ourselves. Thanks to it, we can achieve an exchange of ideas and feelings with other human beings.
When we communicate, we try to make ourselves understood by others. Thus, we create a flow of information that becomes reciprocal by also paying attention to our interlocutors.
Through articulated language – a purely human faculty – we speak, listen, emit and capture ideas, always using the language we hear around us.
But if we don’t express ourselves well, if we use phrases and words only used in a certain group, whoever is outside of it will not understand us.
If we make use of obscenities when speaking, few people will want to hear our opinions. People will not like to be around us, nor to spend time with us, and, even less, to debate about any topic.
Tell your teen that swearing won’t make him more popular, grown-up, or tough. Quite the opposite! Show him that when there is conversation, everything is easier if understanding comes from both sides.
Why is it necessary to teach your child to behave correctly?
Having good manners at all times says a lot about who you are and how much can be expected of you.
Below is a brief summary of some ways and behaviors you can convey to your child so that he or she behaves like the little man you expect him to be.
So, Mom, tell your child that:
- At dinner, do not pick up food with your hands or play with it using cutlery. Throwing food off the plate in a restaurant is also in very bad taste.
- Be tolerant of those around you. Even if sometimes they put you on the brink of losing control.
- When talking or when in public, you should avoid grimacing, sticking your finger in your nose, spitting or scratching your head persistently. You should also not yawn without putting your hand over your mouth, sneeze without covering your mouth and nose, and do not clear your throat excessively.
- If you are standing still and leaning slightly against a wall, you should not lift one of your feet to support it with the soles of your shoes.
- It is necessary to learn to give thanks.
- Gesturing in excess is also not recommended. As well as shouting or speaking in a tone far above the others.
- Never turn your back on your interlocutor, interrupt them, or constantly look away when they are speaking. Listening to and commenting on the ideas of those who are speaking to us are polite.
- You should say hello to others when you get somewhere and say goodbye when you leave.
- One should drink silently.
- If chewing gum, do so with your mouth closed.
- You must learn to apologize, ask for forgiveness, and acknowledge your mistakes when necessary.
