The best crafts with pictures for children

1.- A Christmas tree

Christmas is a very special time for children because, in addition to the food and sweets, they are also excited by the characteristic decoration and fascinated by putting together the Christmas tree.

However, while decorating the tree is fun, it is sometimes difficult to keep our children away from balls and other fragile decorative elements. Also, many of the children find it especially fun to take and place the decorations.

That’s why we propose to create a cardboard Christmas tree for our children that they can decorate with photos specially selected by them.

Regarding tools, you will need:

  • Green cardboard for the tree, brown for the trunk and yellow for the star.
  • Velcro adhesive tape.
  • Photos of loved ones and pets.
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.

What are the steps to follow?

To start, draw the outline of a tree on the green cardboard and on the brown cardboard the trunk. Then help your child cut the tree and trunk along the lines. Then glue the trunk to the tree and cut a star out of the yellow cardboard to decorate the top of the tree.

Then take the photos and draw circles on the back of them, making sure the main focus is on the circle. That way, these photos will serve as Christmas balls. Also, if you want to be a little more original, you can also crop your photos in other shapes, like a star shape or a bell shape, for example.

Then cut the photos along the lines. If you want your Christmas baubles to be sturdier and not bending, you can glue the photos onto cardboard. Then place the Christmas baubles in front of the tree.

Next, cut small pieces of Velcro tape. Glue one part to the back of the Christmas balls and one part to the Christmas tree. Finally, all you have to do is match the balls with your tree. You can modify and change the design to your liking!

What are the steps to follow?

To get started, help your child glue the photos onto the cardboard to make them thicker and stiffer. Use enough glue around the edges so they don’t come unstuck. Cut the cardboard around the edges so it doesn’t show.

Then draw patterns or shapes on the photos with your child with a pencil. We recommend that you only draw dots, not solid lines. You can follow the lines that exist in each photo, like the outlines of the cloud, or create shapes that don’t already exist in your photos, like a heart or a star, for example.

Use the needle to punch holes in the photos, following the marks. Rotate the needle slightly in both directions to enlarge the holes. This is important for the wool to pass through the holes.

Finally, you can start to embroider the photo cards that will later be used to stick in the child’s room or on the fridge.

Don’t forget that the children’s photo crafts we present for you are very simple to make. Thus, we are convinced that you will spend an exceptional time of creation with your child. What are you waiting for to get started?
