Synopsis of the film

Klaus  tells the story of a spoiled young man named Jesper, who used to live well without working. His father, who was in charge of the mail service, decides to teach him a lesson, sending him as a postman to Smeerensburg, a cold and isolated city located in the Arctic Circle. There, he  must fulfill a mission to avoid being disinherited. And this mission consists of delivering 6000 letters in one year.

At first, Jesper thinks the challenge would be simple. However, when he arrives in the city, he learns that its inhabitants live in permanent conflict, divided and facing each other in two groups, the Ellingboe and the Krum. Therefore, they never exchange letters with each other.

This situation despairs the young postman, who is unable to fulfill his mission. But, one fine day, everything changes. By chance, he meets  Klaus, an old man who lives alone at the top of the mountain and has a house full of toys made by him.

From a series of circumstances, these two characters  start to work together in order to distribute toys during the night, without being seen by anyone,  to all the children who write a letter asking for them.

Then the little ones start sharing gifts and playing together, no matter what group they belong to. This is a great teaching for adults as, in the end, they are able to put their differences aside and live in peace with all their neighbors.

As a large number of cards are exchanged, Jesper completes his mission quickly. But when he reaches his goal, everything will have changed: he will become a better person, who cares about others and strives to make others happy. Furthermore, Smeerensburg will become a wonderful city in which to live.

Klaus: a movie with a very important message

The most important message conveyed by  Klaus  is that maintaining a good relationship is always possible, as long as people treat each other with respect and use dialogue to solve problems.

Unfortunately, as in the movie, sometimes adults, with their behaviors and comments of intolerance, hatred and rejection towards others, make children grow up taking on antisocial behaviors. This cannot be allowed!

Adults, especially mothers and fathers, are role models for children. Therefore, it is necessary to try to  be careful with the attitudes presented towards the little ones and try to transmit certain ethical and moral values , such as acceptance and respect for diversity.

Other teachings from the movie

In addition, through the situations experienced by different characters throughout the story, this film also leaves many other lessons on issues related to:

  • Personal improvement.
  • Forgiveness.
  • Effort.
  • Importance of not judging.
  • Altruism.

So, don’t wait any longer and gather your family together so they can see this beautiful animated film together.
