6 children's water games

When summer nights roll around, it’s  an ideal time for kids to spend time with friends playing outdoors. Whether or not you’re lucky enough to have a pool to cool off in, it’s a great idea for parents to suggest fun activities like these water play for kids.

All children love the summer. Unlike other stations, there is the advantage of being able to play in different and very fun ways. An example of this is water play for children. So, keep reading as we’ll present some ideas below.

Children’s water games

1. Water Mattress

It’s a traditional game and we’ve all participated in it at some point. It basically consists of placing a piece of plastic or canvas on the floor and covering it with soap and water.

This will make the surface extremely slippery. If there is an inclination, the fun will multiply. Use it to create a water slide that will entertain your child and friends!

2. Play with water balloons

Water bladders offer a wide variety in terms of recreational activities. For example,  you can play to pass the balloons between the participants, which should be at a relatively great distance inside the pool or outside it.

In this game, the constant threat of your bladder bursting in someone’s hands will generate exciting tension. Another very fun option is to do the classic “Bladder War”. It’s an extremely fun game when there are many participants and an appropriate place to run and hide.

3. Marco Polo

The best thing about this game is that it can be played both on land and in water. One player must be blindfolded and try to catch the others, who will be constantly on the move. Remember that every time the seeker yells “Marco”, the others must respond “Polo” to give a clue as to your location.

4. Water limbo

This game is very similar to traditional limbo. The difference is that  instead of using a stick, we must pass through a jet of water. As you can see, it’s extremely simple: one participant – which could be the adult – will be in charge of holding the hose from which the jet will exit.

The children, meanwhile, will be arranged in a line to follow one by one below. Add music and summer entertainment is guaranteed!

5. Words with ice

No doubt this game could become a hit in the summer, as long as there are enough kids to participate. The game is like this: place the children in a circle and, in the center, a bucket with ice cubes and water pistols.

The adult or one of the children is in the center of the circle with the bucket. The other children should be grouped into pairs and, at the signal, run towards the center, where they will collect an ice cube and the child in the center will say a word to them.

The next step is to run to where your partner is and  write, with ice and letter by letter, the word heard backwards.

When the child who has not heard the word guesses, the other participant can run to the center and pick up their water gun as a reward. All that’s left is to take the time that’s left to get everyone wet before they run out!

6. Fill the bucket

This is another one of the classic water play ideas for kids, but a lot of fun. It consists of filling a bucket of water, which must start empty, using small plastic bottles, which we will fill in an isolated place.

For example, you can place a bucket full of water at the other end of the yard or in the pool where they will be refilled.

If you want to increase the difficulty, you can establish the rule that the bottle must be carried on the head. In that case, it might be a good idea to use vials for easy transport. The winner’s reward will be to empty the bucket full of water on the rival team. Without a doubt, it will be a very fun competition!

With these simple activities, you’ll have summer fun guaranteed  for your little ones. Don’t waste your time and take them out to the backyard to enjoy these great activities with friends.
